5: The Lion, Judah and the East.
How interested were the ancient Hebrews in Astronomy? One idea is to try to trace the origin of star names and constellations. When this is done, it is discovered that a surprising number do seem to be Hebrew in origin. I can only give a few examples. 'Kochab' in the Little Bear is THE name for star in Hebrew, pronounced 'Ko-kawb. In ancient times it would been the Pole Star. Also it will be mentioned elsewhere that 'Pegasus' - is a Greek winged horse, yet 'Peha', is the Hebrew for Chief and 'soos' is the Hebrew for horse. I am not claiming that all or even most of the names found today have their origins in Hebrew, but many do.
